MPMA's central office is in Lincoln, Nebraska. Its governing structure includes a board of directors and numerous committees. Staff includes an executive director and two part-time membership/conference assistants. Our annual fall conference is attended by 300 to 500 professionals each year. The conference provides training, networking, and information sharing for museum professionals at all career levels at a relatively inexpensive cost. MPMA's membership numbers over 1,000 individuals, institutions, and businesses and all receive numerous benefits including a monthly newsletter and access to discount purchasing programs.
Council of Regions
MPMA is one of six regional associations in the United States that works in conjunction with the American Association of Museums. The six associations form the Council of Regions and meet twice yearly to advise AAM on issues relating to museums in the particular regions.
