    Job Description

    The University of Nebraska State Museum, Morrill Hall, is seeking a full-time exhibit fabrication coordinator. Responsible for managing all aspects of constructing exhibit components. Provides direction on exhibits fabrication. Assists with installation and disassembly of temporary exhibits and ensures longer term exhibits and galleries are in proper working condition for safe and successful visitor use. Also functions as a project manager on smaller museum projects, performing all duties from exhibit planning, to fabrication and installation. Occasionally collaborates in the Museum’s exhibit design process and creates artistic pieces for display when possible.

    Minimum Required Qualifications

    • Associate’s degree plus five years of fabrication experience required; equivalent education/experience considered. 
    • Experience with plexiglass case construction. 
    • Knowledge of and skill working with varied production materials such as wood, plastics, fabrics, and metals. 
    • Experience must demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as high standards of accuracy, attention to detail, and quality control. 
    • Ability to: estimate material costs and adhere to a budget; work with various types of epoxies and glues; work collaboratively under pressure to meet deadlines; work on multiple projects and issues simultaneously with minimal supervision; and troubleshoot and creatively problem-solve

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Five years of experience in exhibition fabrication and installation in a museum or similar venue. 
    • Experience planning and designing exhibit displays. 
    • Knowledge of casting and making silicone molds from specimens. 
    • Ability to assist in creating artistic pieces for display.

    Posted Salary: $18.533/hr minimum
