Curators (CurCom)

What is CURCOM?

CURCOM is a Professional Interest Network of the Mountain-Plains Museums Association.

MISSION

Our mission is to provide a network for curators in the MPMA region.

The words curator and curate are widely used today. One can curate a collection, an exhibit, a website, or a program series but responsibility for the interpretation of arts, sciences, or humanities content is at the core.  We work to enhance the cultural dialogue by providing a forum for discussion of the value and relevance of collections and the evolving role of museum curators in the 21st century.

How to join

MPMA Members: Please sign in and go to your profile.  You can edit your profile and choose this PIN and/or any of the other PINs that you wish to join from a checkbox list in your profile.

Non-Members: Please fill out the PIN Sign-up Form and you will be added to this MPMA PIN.

Benefits of joining

  • Connect with colleagues

AAM's CurCom Facebook page is the place where members can pose questions to each other, seek vendor recommendations, and share experiences among collegial peers. AAM's CurCom LinkedIn page provides an instant connection to members and associates around the country as well as access to the latest news, job opportunities and best practices.

  • Build your skills with professional development

CURCOM supports members through a number of programs such as webinars, online meet-ups, and more. CURCOM’s robust engagement at MPMA’s Annual Meeting includes CURCOM-endorsed sessions, thought-leaders at the CURCOM event and networking opportunities.

  • Enjoy fellowship and mentoring opportunities

CurCom hosts a breakfast featuring a guest speaker and opportunities for fellowship and networking at MPMA's Annual meeting.

Scholarships are available for CURCOM members to attend MPMA’s Annual Meeting. The award covers basic conference registration, tickets to attend CURCOM events, an invitation to the CURCOM Breakfast, and a travel stipend. Mentoring is available to CURCOM colleagues new to the field.

Please contact us if you would like to get more involved in CURCOM or if you would like to submit a session or webinar idea. We welcome your ideas, thoughts, and suggestions.
